The Palermo State Archives is the competent State Archives for the Province of Palermo. The consistency of the archival material stored at the institute is as follows: approximately 370,000 archival items including books, records and envelopes, and 6,167 scrolls.
The Palermo State Archives was founded on February 11, 1814 as the General Archives of the Kingdom of Sicily. Since 1843 it is divided into three sections: the diplomatic, administrative, judicial.
