The archives for the city of Chemnitz, Germany
The holdings comprise the official tradition of the city council and of its individual institutions, and extend back to the beginnings of urban administrative activity. The delivery begins in the 16th-17th century. Century, the oldest document is from 1296 and the oldest city book from the year 1426. Furthermore, the archives contain the localities between 1844 and 1999 localities. In addition there are the written traditions of numerous handicrafts such as privileges, articles or crafts and accounting books there. In addition, there are numerous relics, collections, an archive of plans and images, as well as a library of 34,000 volumes in the archive.
Since 1953 the city archives together with library in the former municipal loan house, Aue 16.
